Hello !
Welcome to my blog! My name is Brianna, I am twenty-eight years old and live in the very “warm” state of Arizona.
I will start this first post out by telling you a little about me. I love art, and am a very creative person by nature. I have been writing for more than fifteen years; anything from poems, short stories, unfinished novels, and role-play story building with friends. I have always wanted to start a blog but have always hesitated at pulling that metaphorical trigger.
All my life I’ve had small problems with self-confidence and depression – all were within the realm of “normal”. However about seven years ago a series of rather unfortunate events caused those small problems to become quite large. I now suffer from chronic bouts of anxiety and depression. As soon as I recognized it and accepted it as part of who I am, I decided it was best to not hide it from the world. With as much stigma as there is to those of us who suffer from these types of chronic illness I knew hiding it would serve no one. Well no one but the demons inside.
There are still people I encounter who don’t understand what the struggles I deal with are. They don’t understand why I can panic over something so small as someone raising their voice, how I can cry over something as “silly” as spilling milk, or why in a large crowd I cling to those I know like butter on bread.
That is the main purpose of this blog – to not only be an outlet for the feelings inside of myself; but to also hopefully help others going through the same thing. Whether it’s themselves that’s suffering or it’s a friend or loved one who knows someone who is suffering. I will say upfront that I do not have all the answers. I am still finding little ways to deal with my anxiety which torments me sometimes on a daily basis. Sometimes those ways work, other times I’m scrambling to find new ones. But as they say – Knowledge is Power.
In that respect I am more then happy to field questions; and I will try to answer them if I can.
In addition to this blog servicing as an voice for “mental health”; I will also use it to discuss lighter subjects like: Art, movies, music, my cats, and so much more.
I hope you stick around for the journey! – Thank you for reading and I’ll see you next time!
–Brianna
